Are They Free?

While the Ann Arbor DDA charging stations are free, most of the ones you’ll find elsewhere are not free. The rates depend on a lot of factors, and typically charging at public chargers is more expensive than charging at home. That being said, if you find yourself low on range and need some juice, these will give you a quick boost!

Can Anyone Use them?

Some of the chargers are public for anyone to use, but many will require that you are part of an electric vehicle charging network, like ChargePoint. Basically, you sign up for ChargePoint and you can use any charger in their network. The cost of the charge will be billed to your ChargePoint account automatically.

What about the University of Michigan Chargers?

The Universit of Michigan in Ann Arbor maintains many chargers in their own parking lots around campus. Most of these chargers are part of the ChargePoint network, but are free to use. That being said, you must have a parking pass to be able to park in that lot. The University has more information at this page here plus you can contact the University for more information about using their electric vehicle chargers.
